This Disclaimer applies to the prayer times, Qibla direction, Islamic (Hijri) calendar, adhkār, and related religious content provided by the Islamix mobile application (the "App"). It forms part of our Terms of Service. Please read it carefully.
1. The App is a calculation tool, not a religious authority
Islamix generates prayer times, Qibla direction, and calendar dates using astronomical calculations. It is intended as a convenience and reminder aid. It does not issue religious rulings (fatāwā), does not replace the guidance of qualified scholars, and is not a substitute for your local mosque, imam, or religious authority.
2. How prayer times are calculated, and why they can differ
Prayer times in the App are computed from:
- your geographic location (coordinates);
- the calculation method you select (which sets the twilight angles for Fajr and Isha, and related parameters);
- your madhab (which affects the Asr calculation);
- your time zone; and
- any manual adjustments you apply.
Because different mosques, organisations, and authorities adopt different methods, conventions, and adjustments, the times shown in the App may differ — sometimes by several minutes — from:
- your local mosque or masjid;
- your national or regional Islamic authority;
- printed timetables and other apps; and
- the opinions of individual scholars.
Calculated times can also be less reliable at high latitudes, where twilight behaves unusually and different rulings apply, and around daylight-saving transitions or after travel across time zones.
Where precise timing matters — including for Fajr, sunrise, and the start and end of fasting in Ramaḍān — you should verify against a trusted local source and follow the guidance of your local authority.
3. Qibla direction
The Qibla feature indicates the direction of the Kaʿbah using your device's location and sensors (such as the magnetometer/compass). Its accuracy depends on your device's sensor quality and calibration, and can be affected by nearby metal, magnets, electronics, and interference. Treat it as an approximate aid. When accuracy is important, confirm the direction using a reliable independent method or a trusted local source.
4. Islamic (Hijri) calendar and events
Hijri dates and Islamic events shown in the App are based on a calculated (arithmetical or astronomical) calendar. Many communities determine the start of Islamic months — including Ramaḍān, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and Dhū al-Ḥijjah — by local moon sighting (ru'yah), which may differ from the calculated date by a day or more. Follow the announcements of your local authority for the observance of these dates.
5. Notifications and reminders
Prayer and reminder notifications are scheduled on your device. Their delivery and exact timing depend on your device, operating system, notification permissions, and battery-saving or power-management settings, which are outside our control. Do not rely solely on the App's notifications for time-critical observances; treat them as reminders, not guarantees.
6. No warranty and limitation of reliance
The religious content in the App is provided "as is", without warranty of accuracy or completeness. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any act of worship performed, missed, delayed, or performed incorrectly in reliance on the App, or for any consequence arising from differences between the App's calculated content and the position of your local authority. Your religious obligations remain your own responsibility, to be fulfilled with due care and, where needed, with the guidance of qualified persons.
7. Verify with trusted local sources
When in doubt, verify with your local mosque, imam, or recognised religious authority. The App is intended to support your practice, not to replace scholarly guidance or local consensus.
